LEAP's Focus and Mission

LEAP's primary focus is on helping "at risk" children and young people overcome the traumas and abuses of their pasts. With your help, we have helped many children and families get their lives back on track. And with your continued support, we would like to help many more.

LEAP is the South Carolina Lowcountry’s source for equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP). EAP is an experience-based therapy that helps people find success in their daily lives. LEAP brings horses and experienced, highly trained therapists together to assist those who are suffering from behavioral, emotional, or psychological difficulties.

Our mission is to enrich the quality of life and relationships of residents of the South Carolina Lowcountry, regardless of race, creed, color, gender, age, or economic status.

Recent News

LEAP has added a third treatment team and a third new treatment site! Community organizations that work with at risk populations are referring more and more patients to LEAP because our equine-assisted therapy programs have proven to work when traditional methods have not. So we've added new staff and a new site. But we need your help to reap the benefits of these new resources.

The Medical University of SC (MUSC), the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Governor's Office of Continuum of Care are all sending patients to LEAP who cannot afford to pay for their treatment. For the first time, we have a waiting list of patients who need our help. But funds are not available. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
